Here at Consensus Opera we aim to bring the best local actors and singers together to perform works combining drama with high quality operatic music, whilst at the same time raising money for worthy charitable causes.
The last few years have been busy for Consensus. After Oscar Wilde’s timeless political comedy An Ideal Husband in 2012 and William Wycherley’s classic Restoration comedy The Country Wife in May 2013, we performed Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s comedy masterpiece The Rivals in June 2014.
Then following our acclaimed RSC Open Stages production of The Merry Wives of Windsor in 2011, our 2014 autumn concert The Touches of Sweet Harmony was selected as an RSC Open Stages 2013-2016 event and was performed as part of the Stratford Music Festival Fringe.
Then October 2015 saw us return to Oscar Wilde for his comic masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest. With another wonderful cast plus music by Cole Porter and his contemporaries this production was the first where we donated money to local charities from all four performances. As a result we helped to raise over £2200 for very worthy local causes through your loyal support for live local theatre.
Preparations are now well underway for Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer which will take place from 2 to 5 November 2016 in and around Stratford. Watch this space for details!
Remember, we are always pleased to hear from charities looking to raise funds for local worthy causes. Thank you for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you at our next production.
